Your use of misnomers is rather indicative of the uneducated.
An embryo at 6 weeks is NOT "a baby."
Cellular life begins at conception, not [a] human (being) life (as in, fetal viability or birth).
The ONLY turning point in a pregnancy that matters is fetal viability, and that is typically achieved at 22-24 weeks with a high probability of survival outside of the womb if birthed early (premature).
The rest of your reply is incoherent babble chalked full of misnomers and uneducated emotively driven subjective statements.
Not every woman is ready to have a baby, not every woman is in the right financial situation, but most importantly, not every woman is ready to carry another human being in her body for nine months. Abortion is not murder, for the first twenty-four (in some cases twenty) weeks the fetus is not yet formed, this means they are just cells without a brain or a heart.
If abortion is made illegal this does not mean that abortions will no longer exist but it does mean that they will be done surreptitiously by methods that are dangerous to the body and even more painful, methods that can put the woman at risk. Making abortion illegal will also mean preventing raped girls from being able to have a happy and right childhood; in general for victims of abuse, abortion must remain an option. Most women do not want to carry their abuser's child; it will remind them of a trauma from which they will never heal. Let's say a ten-year-old girl was abused and became pregnant, would you want her to give birth? Would you let her go through that hell to “save” something that is not even formed yet?
Women who get pregnant and are not in the right situation to raise a child, would you prevent her from being in a better situation just for some cells?
If pregnancy is risky for the woman's body would you let her die? There are so many situations where abortion can save and help the woman and should be a right not something to be prevented, even more so by a man. The man is not the one who will go through pregnancy trauma, he is not the one who may have postpartum depression, and he is not the one whose body may be put at risk. The man may have the opinion but the final decision will be made by the woman and if abortion is banned she will probably resort to dangerous methods. We have to ask ourselves why the woman comes to decide to have an abortion, this is not a game and if the woman decides to have an abortion it means that she will not be able to take care of the baby or she is not ready for a pregnancy and no there is no “you can give it up for adoption” option, in nine months of pregnancy the woman can have complicament, she can be sick and she can also “get attached” to this thing even if she is not ready (it is not really attached but the fact of giving away something that you have grown inside your body for months).
Abortion should be an option that the woman can have and is a right.
What you think, feel or believe is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is what you can prove.
You cannot prove a semi-functional organ can keep the embryo alive outside of further gestational development in the womb in order to achieve fetal viability that takes 22-24 weeks gestation. Sit down.
I agree with you, and it may be necessary to have to flesh the whole discussion to make sense where one is coming from. To put it simply, no one has the right to use someone else's body without their consent. They are making it a special case for the fetus, so they must present a valid argument. I'm just confused with Aidan's argument, because despite the fact that he says "murder is wrong," he is okay with abortion in cases of rape. I want to know why, because I believe you can't be okay with A and not be okay with A at the same time. Saying abortion is murder and not okay, and then saying it's okay in cases of rape feels like two conflicting ideas. What is his reasoning for that is what I wanted to know.
But that's a whole separate argument. It could be a 2 year-old child needing blood, tissue, and/or organ; the donor must sign a consent form, by law, because it is up to them whether they want SOMEONE ELSE to use their body in some way. You're saying that a pregnant woman doesn't have that same right and she should be forced to gestate because you value more for the fetus.
Abortion is a safe medical procedure. Murder is a legal term denoting a heinous criminal act of one human being taking the life of another (already born/living/existing) human being with malice and aforethought. Abortion =/= murder. Never has. Never will. 89-94% of ALL abortions take place before 14 weeks gestation with the majority of those being before 6 weeks. No "innocent child/baby" involved. A pregnancy has NO legal rights. Legal rights and privileges are not bestowed upon a person until they are born (14th Amendment), and they are deserving of equal protection of the law. Even fetal homocide state and federal laws unequivocally declare the pregnancy, regardless of stage, as a legal victim but never a person or human being (under the 14th). Even US Codes define a human being, person, and child as one who has already been born. Birth is the legal defining requirement for legal protections and bestowing of legal rights and privileges. Never before birth. Abortion is NOT murder.
Abortion should be legal up to the point of fetal viability, then hands off unless to save the life of the pregnant girl/woman. Her life comes first as she has the legal rights, privileges and protections under the law. The pregnancy does not.
abortion should be legal what if a homeless woman was pregnant that would mean if it was illegale she would have to give birth to the child which would give that kid a horrible childhood also for teenages soo many teenages are getting pregnant
Abortion should be legal. Not every woman is in a prepared and good financial state to take care of a child. If a pregnant woman wants her child to be raised in a stable home and she knows she isn't able to give her unborn child that, why should she go through nine months of pregnancy, pain, and child labor just to give it away in the system--or even worse, let the child be raised and grow up in a horrible and unprepared environment?Every parent should want the best for their child. The system is quite corrupt anyway, why would a genuine mother want to give her child away, greatly unaware of what will happen to her child. And let's say the mother is in her teenage years. She gets sexually assaulted and falls pregnant. She won't be financially or mentally stable to have a child. If she goes through with the pregnancy, there will be so many risks due to her young age. Will she be guaranteed her own life and a healthy baby? Why would a mother want to have her child if she's not guaranteed her own life or the baby's life? Even if the mother was sexually assaulted, or not, she shouldn't have to fear losing her (or her child's life) due to her health or age. There are so many different situations when it comes to this topic, but women should have the option to legally have safe abortions.
Abortion should be illegal! Ending a pregnancy is a common decision that millions of people make - every year a quarter of pregnancies end in abortion also deters women and girls from seeking post-abortion care for complications due to unsafe abortion or other pregnancy-related complications. Access to abortion is therefore fundamentally linked to protecting and upholding the human rights of women, girls, and others who can become pregnant, and thus for achieving social and gender justice. Everyone should be free to exercise their bodily autonomy and make their own decisions about their reproductive lives including when and if they have children. It is essential that laws relating to abortion respect, protect and fulfil the human rights of pregnant persons and not force them to seek out unsafe abortion those who are already marginalised are disproportionately affected by such laws as they have no means to seek safe and legal services in another country or access private care. They include women and girls of a low income, refugees and migrants, adolescents, lesbian, bisexual cisgender women and girls, transgender or gender non-conforming individuals, minority or Indigenous women. Yes abortion is depressing and it sucks, it can also lead to body problems such as Bleeding
Cramping
Dizziness
Drowsiness
Nausea/Vomiting.
My friend's mom had died because her body had a problem healing from the abortion from her child she didn't want!
Kermit even disagrees that abortion should be legal. He was a single tadpole and his mom didn't abort him!
So does the mother have 4 arms when she is pregnant? two heads, 4 legs? also it is a fact when you talk about not respecting black lives what about the founder of planned parenthood saying "we need to exterminate them n*****." Explain that
i am pro choice because only the pregnant women can decide what she wants to do. HER BODY HER CHOICE. if you dont wanna do it then dont but dont go pushing it on others. and first of all at first its a literal clump of cells. also the whole thing about how amy coney barret is now finding a way to make abortion illegal n u would face the death penalty are u serious yall are pro life w a clump of cells but dont care about the women who wants an abortion or black, muslim, and hispanic lives.
lol no it is not a clump of ceels it has legs hands heads and organs in it very early on a hear beat at 6 weeks it it not just a clump of cells pls look at the babies as it grows week by week
Reading comprehension matters. tttt said "at first it's a literal clump of cells." That's what a zygote and blastocyst is. A clump of dividing cells.
A semi-functioning organ does not equal viability outside of the womb. Take the embryo out at six weeks, it dies.
Fetal viability is the ONLY turning point in a pregnancy where restricting an abortion matters, except for medical life saving measures for the girl/woman.
I was being ignorant, I agree with most(Just hear me out on this-) of what you said.I think that the last line was unnecessary. Until I got there, I agreed with what you said, as I wasn't extremely educated on the subject. If you cannot support this child, if you're struggling on your own, the option is up to you. We cannot just go by whether or not you are or aren't struggling to support the child. You cannot exclude the option though, that that 17-year-old, agreed at first to have s3x. Though as time goes on, she wants to do it less and less, but, her abusive ex anything, won't stop. And again, that last line was unnecessary, nobody gets to choose what goes into their body at a young age, even at an older age. Men get raped too, but they don't speak up because most won't believe them. They don't speak up because 'only women can get raped'. And if they get someone pregnant against their will, (again, they didn't want to have s3x, whatever circumstance it is, he didn't want to have s3x with this person) they can get cheated out of money and have to pay child support, even if they do speak up, not many // no one will believe them. Also, do not drag the child into that. Now, you're just being a b^tch. If the child has grown up without the birth father and they've been doing fine, why the h3ll do you think that the child is going to care if he has been gone? They have grown up fine, and honestly, the mother doesn't even have to tell them. Children that have been adopted and don't even know it until they're told, they don't care as much. 'tHaT's A bAd ComParIsOn' and that was wrong what you said about the child. So if we're even. Also, I f^cking said that abortion should be a choice, were those limited choices? Yes, but I never said that those were the only options, I said(Indirectly stated, damn, haven't you learned that?), that those were the ones that are fairly common. Also also, shut up. D*mn, there are so many getting therapy from that, and unless(Okay, I couldn't help this part ;v;) you're f^cking Shoto Todoroki and your mother decides to pour boiling water on your face because your father is a pile of sh*t, do not put words or ideas in people's mouths. (D#mn, this is long ;v;) I never said that it's 'mY cHoIcE', so you're just being a pile of sh*t. Oh, so I guess I hate everything you said. oops-
YOU ALL DONT KNOW HOW ABORTION WORKS THEY TAKE THE BABY OUT OF YOUR BODY AND CUT OF ITS HEAD AND THATS SO GREWSOME WHY WOULD YOU DO SUCH A THING THE BABY SHOULD HAVE THERIGHT TO LIVE.
But the argument is legality. Explaining the procedure of an abortion (in a malicious fashion, but that's how prolifers are) is not an argument for abortion. Please justify why something should have rights to your body when it does not apply to everyone else.
@yeeter-132 That's not how rights are given. Biological parents are not legally obligated to preserve the life of their child(s) via bodily donation. It goes against bodily autonomy, meaning no one has a right to life when it is at the expense of another's right to life. We should form equality, not punishment.
Your opinion is valid but it is a misconception. You have all been told that the embryo is "living" when it is nothing but a clump of cells which is why doctors don't perform it after a certain period when it does become a living thing. The thing is that abortion should be a choice. Why? Because you do not know the circumstances someone is going to have to put that baby through if it does come into the world. For example, if a 17-year old girl is raped by her boyfriend and falls pregnant, she's not mentally nor financially prepared for a child. Why would she put a baby through a trauma like that, having to see their parents and family struggle to put food in their mouths? See their mother fall into a hole she cannot get out of because of something forced on her? Imagine how guilty that child will feel when they are old enough to see the circumstances they were born under, although truly it was never their fault. Things like those are inevitable and trauma like that is not easy to heal and it rarely is. Do not take that choice from someone because it is frankly none of your business nor your body to choose what others have to go through.
ngl, I think it should be the mother's option, although, I do believe that if you do not want the child, but them up for adoption, if you don't feel comfortable with either. Keep them.
I feel like the question people should be asking regarding abortion is if the fetus is sentient; can the fetus feel pain and/ or is it aware of its surrounding. If a fetus can’t feel pain, it’s surroundings or even feel emotion then I don’t believe it should be classified as murder because in that sense the fetus is just a clump of cells NOT A HUMAN BEING. Therefore it shouldn’t be illegal if none of the “people” involved in the abortion are set at a disadvantage or harmed in any way. In conclusion, women should have the choice in what happens to their bodies as long as no one is hurt. P.S there’s much more I could say but I’m not going to unless this gets post attention.
@Kylee Prescott It classified as a double homicide because the fetus was taken from the mother without her consent. If a fetus is a person why can't they take out insurance on it until it is born?
@Lule Flatt exactly. The reason it is considered a double homicide (which it is but rarely happens) can be for two reasons, the baby is already positioned to be birthed (<7 months in the mother, when it is fully formed and no longer a clump of cells) or because the fetus (which is called an embryo at this stage and is nothing but a clump of cells at this stage) has been taken from the mother without her consent or knowledge. Therefor, that does not mean the fetus is a living thing, unless it is about to be birthed, but after the first 2 months you cannot get an abortion, so the evidence is invalid and doesn't really prove @Kylee Prescott 's point.
Abortion, yes should be illegal. People may say it's a woman's body they shouldn't be pushed into having it but... it's murder when it's born and not when it's inside the womb as some people say a fetus, which is a scientific name that they give it, to make it not seem as if it's a baby. Even if they didn't have money for this baby or didn't want it, the best option in my personal opinion is to give it up for adoption. Therefore, they know they're baby is safe. This is truly my opinion.
I believe when people mention the word baby, they are speaking in a colloquial sense whether it be a newborn or their 14 year old child. Yes, the scientific term for a baby during the gestation period is fetus. I believe when people address the fetus as baby, they are doing this colloquially and manipulatively to appeal the emotions of others - say a friend to another friend with a wanted pregnancy. When arguing for abortion whether you are against it or not, should be structured in a way that's logically sound and substantiated. Unfortunately, language isn't the issue. It's a tangent, sidetracking from the actual topic which is whether an abortion should remain legal or become illegal. Whether you call the fetus a baby or not a baby, I see no justification for anyone to use another person's body in the absence of their willful and ongoing consent. Denying someone your body for them to live is not murder, it is your bodily right. Adoption is an alternative to parenting, because we are talking about someone legally bringing up a child as their own in place of the biological/legal parent. This has nothing to do with abortion. Telling someone with an unwanted pregnancy to give the baby up for adoption as a solution doesn't help, because they have an unwanted pregnancy and they shouldn't have to decide to keep it because others tell them they should.
It depends whether the pregnant was raped or by accident,if it is about my money then it should be illegal to abort considering how the choice is made on the dependency of the financial status and because there could be government subsidies. If you are not ready to take care of the baby than it can be put up for adoption. So in my opinion is that abortion should be illegal but with a ability to have put up a case on why they should be able to abort.Unless rape if so than legal.
You cannot get any insurance from an aborted fetus, since at the time of the abortion it is not a living thing, it is a clump of cells. You cannot get an abortion after 2-3 months depending on the baby development. After that it is a miscarriage, not an abortion.
No a fetus is NOT basically a seed. A seed has no chance at becoming a plant if it isn’t given soil, water and sunlight. An unfertilized egg is more comparable to a seed.
If A woman willingly has sex she should be prepared to take responsibility for her actions no matter what. Babies don’t just pick a uterus and claim homestead they are put there. So if the question is INNOCENCE then yes they are innocent and deserve to a chance to grow not be murdered. If I choose to get drunk and drive a car, I am accepting the risk of going to jail. There is no OWI clinic I for me to pay and have all the problems I caused myself gone forever. If you choose to have sex you are accepting the risk of becoming pregnant and should have to deal with the consequences of your actions. Abortions should only be performed when the pregnancy is a result of rape.
And yes God gave us magnificent abilities. One of them being pregnant and growing a child inside our bodies. He also gave us the intelligence to make bombs and missiles. We only use those when we have to why can’t abortion be treated the same way?
Look. People (woman in particular ) have been made to believe that it's really their choice, and that it's the better choice... I HIGHLY implore you to research SENOMYX.. They have created what i'm calling a "Circle of Consumers" Senomyx uses aborted fetal limbs to amplify certain flavors... They have manipulated so many irresponsible woman (EXCLUDING UNFORTUNATE OCCURRENCES) into having unprotected sex purely for pleasure, than getting stuck with a kid that they tell them to abort so they can make your chips and pop taste better. If you want to have sex, fucking be prepared. if not you contribute to the inevitable extinction of a fairly promising species... the human race
you should report this organization because i believe that would be considered a type of cult and illegal, under defamation laws. please consult with local authorities about it because pro-choice doesn't stand for things like these either.
If the mother had a two year old in need of an organ transplant and she is the only person who matches, should it be legal to force her to donate that organ?
The two year old is a child by definition, so we have taken the term out of relevancy. Also if that same two year old is capable of using someone's body without their consent, I wouldn't declare them as innocent - so we have also taken innocence out of relevancy. So if the two year old cannot use his/her mother's body for an organ, then the fetus does not have that right either in regards for the pregnant person's ENTIRE body being used.
@Srij Kark None of that is relevant to the point I am making. Did you forget that there is a thing called consent? Just because the vagina is "designed" for a penis, no man should go around penetrating women without their consent. What a terrible appeal to nature and it sets a dangerous precedent where a person's bodily autonomy can be disrespected and therefore violated using that same logic. No one is owed a body and no one should dictate others on making bodily decisions against their wishes, that's the idea behind slavery. Any form of bodily donation, whether it be a kidney or the entire body for nine months, must be met with the donor's ongoing consent. This is why you don't have hospitals forcing their patients to donate their bodies of any form, because that is illegal.
@Brian Cevallos the thing is, a fetus is not part of a woman's body, it has different DNA, different fingerprints l, and sometimes even a different gender! But seriously, the big difference in our arguments is that prolifers believe a fetus is not just a regular organ belonging to her, but another entity with its own programming, prochoicers on the other hand, as you've said yourself, the fetus is part of a woman's body and so is therefore like any other part of her body, something she can dispose of or care for as she sees fit. So let's debate that, is the fetus a life?
Do you consider the seed of a plant to have feelings? My guess is no unless you are actually crazy. Well isn’t a fetus basically a seed? Plants are living things and so are humans but now all the sudden a fetus is the opposite of a seed. The process is the same. As someone else in the comments said: you have the choice to donate an organ and even though it could save someone’s life it is a choice. Abortion is the same thing but to a seed. So should if abortion is illegal than every person the US should HAVE to donate an organ unless they are the ones in need of it. This is what Republicans try to do. Instead of focusing on humans that are here and actually living they choose to focus on the seeds. If God gave us free will and we have this technology than shouldn’t we be allowed to use it?

Abortion is a human right as was decided by the Supreme Court.
